Abyssinian Cat Club Show Managers Report

Another very successful and enjoyable day at Stratford on Avon for the Club's 19th Championship show. We were delighted to welcome so many cats, exhibitors and visitors. Unfortunately one of the England World Cup football matches fell on show day and affected the number of visitors during the afternoon but Stratford itself was very quiet and that was something we had absolutely no control over. I am very fortunate to have such a hard working committee and membership around me. There were so many people coming together to help in so many ways on show day. Everything ran very smoothly and there was a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the hall. I am very grateful to everyone who helped. Thank you to the Judges and Stewards who ensured the results came through in good time, enabling me to run the Best In Show competition early in the afternoon, allowing the winners time to enjoy their success in the Best In Show pens. Thank you to Pat and Rob for running the mammoth Show Trophy table so efficiently and to all the Results table workers, Helen, Brian, Margaret, Sandra, Shirley and Louise. Thank you to the two Davids (Hopkins and Smith) for all their help, to Joye and Lois for the officials' lunches - helped by Harriet, Charles, Cheryl and Gerald - to Eileen, Mike, Rob and Welly for the incredible raffle, to Sue, Kay, Mike and Eric for helping to ensure everything ran smoothly and to Elvie and Elaine for your help on Friday and early start on Saturday. Thank you also to our vets, Tim and Sue. Without the support of the exhibitors, there wouldn't be a show and we were delighted that the Abyssinian entry was up slightly this year. This is now the only GCCF show which caters exclusively for Abyssinians and Somalis and the committee are very grateful for the support that makes this possible.
